I have found my life has many more important things going on than just what I'm wearing, which sometimes isn't even interesting.<br />
I have many ideas and random things going on in my head, as well as outings I partake in, social engagements, music interests, anything and everything...mostly not even related to fashion.<br />
<br />
I also am a fashion designer, so I deal with this everyday...I am not really interested in photographing my clothes these days.<br />
Instead, I've found its best for me to just document my life from time to time, when I see fit, not necessarily on a regular schedule, or sometimes not frequently at all. But if you're still finding yourself somewhat intrigued by my going-ons about town and just what I do then feel free to stop by my online "<a href="http://hellheels.tumblr.com/">diary</a>" and read up on me.<br />
I'll perhaps see some of you over there...if not, that's ok too--I promise I won't lose sleep over any of this.<br />

sooooooooooooo beyond obvious, I know I know!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091116317/" title="rockulikeahurricane3 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="rockulikeahurricane3" height="672" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6063/6091116317_e41d33cd40_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
The entire weekend I wore the same outfit, so we're not even going to break it down by dates really.<br />
Let's just group the entire weekend of August 27th-28th, 2011 under one category, one name, one super awesome title:<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;">"ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE weekend"</span><br />
That's right; you know I live on the east coast, you know Hurricane Irene threated to rear her ugly face at NYC, and you should know I'm gonna give her ugly face right back!<br />
I'm ready to go out in all my rock n roll glory!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091571228/" title="thebar by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="thebar" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6086/6091571228_ce1c6f9c4b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
We were a little frightened, not gonna lie.<br />
So some of us single ladies got together to hold down the fort and brave the storm together...<br />
<br />
We started at the bar, to get our game faces on!<br />
<em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">(and to forget about the doom and destruction that lie hours ahead)</span></em><br />
'Cause if you're gonna tell Hurricane Irene to, "F-off", you might want a little liquid courage in ya!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091026187/" title="F-off Hurricane Irene by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="F-off Hurricane Irene" height="523" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6063/6091026187_0e39a67529_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
It turns out, NYers handled the storm preparation differently than others. <br />
I went to the bar w/an umbrella...these two got ready for looting and mass chaos in the streets!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091027265/" title="bromance2 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="bromance2" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6084/6091027265_dfcfcccf1b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Then the rain started to come.<br />
Out w/the umbrellas, and enough of their plans to loot.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091027577/" title="swords by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="swords" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6078/6091027577_a00829a2c4_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
These boys got down right emotional and busted out a bromance before our very eyes!<br />
<br />
<em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">(oh what the end of the world won't do to two metalheads...</span></em><br />
<em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">best sight I saw all day, I laughed naturally! DORKS!)</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091027369/" title="bromance3 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="bromance3" height="492" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6074/6091027369_c5ba8fa467_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
But I ain't got a romance; so I just kept on drinkin'<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091027725/" title="hurricane-day by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="hurricane-day" height="649" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6073/6091027725_f495f9939a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
provoking Irene w/my hurricane-like dance moves,<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091027985/" title="hurricaneIreneDance by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="hurricaneIreneDance" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6088/6091027985_fe5c4523c4_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
and heading for safer shelter, rather than <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-charleston-brooklyn">The Charleston</a>...ok, so actually I just got hungry.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091659956/" title="hurricanedinner by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="hurricanedinner" height="590" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6210/6091659956_275fc863bb_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So while most of NY was preparing for the storm that threatened to DESTROY...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091572966/" title="storefront3 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="storefront3" height="741" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6192/6091572966_8aab24dd90_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091026039/" title="ducttape by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="ducttape" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6068/6091026039_f28d3636e1_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I grubbed on a homeade mexican feast of tacos and burritos!<br />
And I didn't even have to lift a finger-cause this girl can't cook!<br />
But to be fair, I did bring the produce...so thank you for cooking me dinner Tom, glad my veggies came in handy!<br />
<br />
******************<br />
We all passed out watching True Romance, and awoke around 1:30am to the strongest winds I've probably ever heard in my life. Pounding rain and what looked like an upcoming zombie apocolypse...yikes!<br />
I believe the eye of the storm lulled us all back to sleep around 2:30am...then up and at 'em come 9:30am on Sunday.<br />
<br />
This is what happened!<br />
OHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYY!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091572320/" title="downsign3 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="downsign3" height="546" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6183/6091572320_5132ca801c_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
By "this is what happened", I mean I was up walking around Brooklyn in my pajamas at 9:30am. They were talking like we were going to lose our lives, so I think for strangers to see me in PJs is the least of our concerns here.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091571992/" title="nickie-downsign by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="nickie-downsign" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6077/6091571992_71b44a20ae_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
It is a well known fact, I do NOT take mother nature as seriously as one should. Hence the bubble blowing side ponytail wearing wannabe 12yr old I appear to be in front of this sign wreckage.<br />
And, while I realize the hurricane was NOT nearly as exciting as I hoped it would be...I will say I am happy it did not really kill us.<br />
It just kinda took down parts of our 'hood, but eveyrone in hipsterville seemed to make it out A-OK.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091572626/" title="hurricanedestruction-house by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="hurricanedestruction-house" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6196/6091572626_f1335b6c23_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091029353/" title="hurricanedestruction-car by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="hurricanedestruction-car" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6208/6091029353_eae2ceec34_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091573432/" title="tree by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="tree" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6078/6091573432_89ecd361b3_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091574230/" title="tree6 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="tree6" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6193/6091574230_b0d23ab1ae_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091573926/" title="tree4 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="tree4" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6076/6091573926_0bddf0904f_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091660270/" title="hurricanedestruction-trees2 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="hurricanedestruction-trees2" height="393" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6195/6091660270_31eeb8d597_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091573128/" title="meter by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="meter" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6079/6091573128_a993ec715a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Including myself...<br />
Phew...because we all want this "way too old to live in Williamsburg" almost 32yr old hipster to keep on bloggin' right?<br />
<br />
I mean who else can you count on to pick up a storm wrecked dirty ol' street meter and put it up to her face with an "OMG" face???<br />
You can continue to count on this one!<br />
'nuff said!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091573266/" title="meterandtree by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="meterandtree" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6063/6091573266_fc379c401f_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So while the flooding was minor, and not nearly what it was in other necks of the woods,<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091574478/" title="flood2 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="flood2" height="360" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6077/6091574478_e76d78f515_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
and mostly our intrigue for damages got the best of us...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091030737/" title="treeandcristina by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="treeandcristina" height="816" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6084/6091030737_255d821a79_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
We are most definitely thankful the storm didn't result in the end of our awesome selves!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091031323/" title="flood by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="flood" height="434" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6071/6091031323_a366089d35_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Because really, who else was gonna put on a "new" vintage motley crue tshirt and rock the weekend like a hurricane?<br />
Um, certainly not Irene!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091659506/" title="rockulikeahurricane2 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="rockulikeahurricane2" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6194/6091659506_4e3c2accb8_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6091115907/" title="rockulikeahurricane by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="rockulikeahurricane" height="825" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6086/6091115907_68c8dab001_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And yes, I went full force grubster this weekend...only showering 1x.<br />
Sooooooooooo unheard of if you know my totally high-maintenance self<br />
<em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">(true, i do look like i spend all of 10min on getting ready, but its more like 60-90min if you want to know the REAL facts)</span></em><br />
<br />
<em><span style="font-size: large;">And therefore, all weekend I wore this:</span></em><br />
<em><span style="background-color: white; color: #6fa8dc;">*Vintage Motley Crue tshirt-courtesty of college buddy's older bro</span></em><br />
<em><span style="background-color: white; color: #6fa8dc;">*Cut off jean shorts-Gap</span></em><br />
<em><span style="background-color: white; color: #6fa8dc;">*Black booties-Steve Madden</span></em><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Oh if only it were the 70's all over again!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Unfortunately, photos are not allowed in the exhibit areas.<br />
Boo!<br />
<br />
I only managed to finagle a pic of the lobby, nothing like some floating cars thru the atomosphere!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6078676688/" title="insideRockHall by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="insideRockHall" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6200/6078676688_35068be08a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So may I suggest you all hop over to Cleveland sometime before February, and check out the Rock Hall, and specifically the "Women Who Rock" exhibit.<br />
You will not be dissappointed!<br />
Even if you aren't into the rock n roll, they've got plenty of music to please the masses...I got to see one of Gram Parson's guitars, some of the Flying Burrito Bros.' nudie suits, a few of Michael Jackson's costumes, Cher's infamous native american headdress and costume, and sooooooooooo much more!<br />
It's awesome...I should know, I've been there twice and I will go back again!<br />
<br />

But one thing to keep in mind...this is Cleveland!<br />
No need to get all fancy-schmancy to go to a museum.<br />
Heck no.<br />
<br />
<em><span style="font-size: x-large;">Wearing:</span></em><br />
<em>*Taupe blouse-F21</em><br />
<em>*Cut-off shorts-Gap</em><br />

<em>*Cranberry sunglasses-Foster-Grant</em><br />
<em>*Cream vintage belt-Thrift Store</em><br />
<em>*Black fringe bag-H&M</em><br />

Oh, speaking of thrift store and being in Ohio...of course I stopped off at about 4 of my fave thrifty haunts!<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Even a movie night can be wayyyyyyyy too much fun.</div><div style="text-align: center;">You know, like when you're planning on watching a documentary on Waylon Jennings, then rounding out the movie viewing with "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"?</div><div style="text-align: center;">THEME HERE BEING COUNTRY n WESTERN!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6063569968/" title="nickie1 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6063020725/" title="burt&Dolly by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="burt&Dolly" height="386" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6194/6063020725_6d7e32486e_o.jpg" width="576" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">So can I get a, "YEEEEEE-HAW, Ya'll"?!?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OjyZKfdwlng" width="425"></iframe><br />
This Music Monday post is going to be about as surprising as the sad and untimely death of one of my hairband heros:<br />
Jani Lane!<br />
<br />
I heard the news when I got to work on Friday; and crazy enough, a flood of memories from the good ol' days of heavy metal kareoke at the Hi-Fi in Cleveland came rushing back.<br />
If you know the Hi-Fi, you know the guys from Warrant have a close link to that fine establishment.<br />
And if you know me, you know I have a special little place in my heart reserved for those memories.<br />
It was there, and it was at heavy metal kareoke with a live band, that I got to be a little hairband hellion--oh to be 22 all over again!<br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(Yes, its true kids...I at one time in my life, sang in place of Jani Lane at a Warrant concert. I might just be the one and only former Kent City Kitten that knows all the words to "Cherry Pie", and Warrant may have requested the aide of my horrible vocals at that concert in Akron...poor Jani just happened to have pnemonia on that particular night; while it sucks for him...it was beyond rad for me!)</span></i><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6047759911/" title="IMG_5880 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5880" height="432" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6087/6047759911_8617f1d71e_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And just as you would expect, I paid homage to Jani this past weekend by lending one of my vintage tees to my friend, while I sported my other vintage Warrant tee.<br />
<br />
So while Jani rose up to the heavens <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(I would hope)</span></i>, I rocked the heavens in my DIY crop top.<br />
yeah that's right!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6047759911/" title="IMG_5880 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rrSdXtFJG20" width="425"></iframe><br />
Unfotunately I did not have 3 vintage tshirts, or else Mel could've gotten in on the Warrant-good-times as well. Instead, she just tried to out-do me by wearing what she calls her "Tall Girl Shoes"...sorry friend, I'm still taller than you :)<br />
And I'm in my Warrant tshirt, YESsssss!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6047751231/" title="IMG_5892 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5892" height="688" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6068/6047751231_8e66999a10_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So here you go kids; this here little blog post is my respects to Jani.<br />
This is one of my favorite WARRANT songs of all time:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6047751231/" title="IMG_5892 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0RHENr6Xe70" width="425"></iframe><br />
Laugh it up all you want, I know Warrant is a joke to most. <br />
Big deal, I'm a joke too.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6047760037/" title="IMG_5882 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5882" height="809" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6198/6047760037_aef8435f1c_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Wearing:<br />
*Vintage Warrant concert tee-from college buddy<br />
*Black tank-Gap<br />
*Cut-off shorts-Gap<br />
*Leopard Print booties-F21<br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(they fell apart the following day and I threw them away in the park--just a side note!)</span></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/DAX20LoVgxE" width="425"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;">Go ahead, listen to one more Warrant song before you call it a night.</div><div style="text-align: center;">And if you shed a tear, its ok...he was a hottie from Ohio; and he died too young...but not young enough.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Is it wrong that I refuse to think of him as the big eyed bloated dude at age 47? Instead I'm gonna forever pretend in my head he will always be that tall skinny muscle-y toned 21yr old boy from Brimfield.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Mmmmmmmm, Jani!</div>Wild as a Minkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10000767179276252163noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186966018084812561.post-7585953197074495542011-08-11T22:44:00.001-04:002011-08-11T22:46:56.461-04:00Anastasia of Beverly Hills & Wild as a Mink<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Recently I was approached by a media team partnering up with <a href="http://anastasia.net/index.php">Anastasia of Beverly Hills</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They asked me if I'd be interested in joining their Blogger Appreciation Program, and I was more than stoked to do so.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nQRlt_AsOSU/TkSPU4ir5sI/AAAAAAAABZk/JFrVtC44ye8/s1600/Flower+Logo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nQRlt_AsOSU/TkSPU4ir5sI/AAAAAAAABZk/JFrVtC44ye8/s400/Flower+Logo+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A particular fondness for country lies within a sector known sort of by the name of </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">"<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Outlaw Country</span>".</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">The term pretty much was given to the likes of </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Waylon, Willie, and the boys...</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now you ask just who those boys are?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Waylon and Willie <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(shown above)</span></i> were quite a dynamic duo!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Certainly you've heard this little #:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/N_a4BU09GrU" width="425"></iframe><br />
<br />
"Outlaw Country also refers to a few others in this little circle of hellions; such as David Allan Coe:<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WEv7i1U9j3c/TkCpgk_B6CI/AAAAAAAABZc/2YgT7E8IKhE/s1600/David-Allan-Coe_7933_10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WEv7i1U9j3c/TkCpgk_B6CI/AAAAAAAABZc/2YgT7E8IKhE/s320/David-Allan-Coe_7933_10.jpg" width="307" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">of which I'd say my favorite DAC song would have to be "Please Come to Boston"; </div><div style="text-align: center;">my friend Garrett introduced me to this when she thought it was a good idea to embarrass me in front of a particular Nashvillian back in the day--good one, G! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(I can't thank you enough...I'd like to punch you actually! mortifying at the time-duh!)</span></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/t97IDT2ECp8" width="425"></iframe></span></i></div><div style="text-align: center;">Ok, so that is a horrible example of how rowdy these boys can be; but it truly is one of my favorite David Allan Coe songs, if not one of my all-time fave songs ever.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Along with him, you can toss in Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, etc and you've got yourself some <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">OUTLAW COUNTRY!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Crack open a beer and queue up the playlist.<br />
<br />
-see the very end of this post for some suggestions-</div><div style="text-align: center;">**************</div><div style="text-align: center;">But of all the country out there, my heart lies with one man...Waylon Jennings.!</div><div style="text-align: center;">He's got a voice like a god, the tales of a broken man, and enough stories to pull at heartstrings for days on end.</div><div style="text-align: center;">You wanna love this ramblin' man, but you can't hold him down.</div><div style="text-align: center;">He's a man on the go, lovin and leavin the ladies, bust'n out and break'n hearts!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9zbYpvlrOqY/TkCrtCkWHpI/AAAAAAAABZg/ydkMTrlBLRg/s1600/Nashville-Rebel--2011-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9zbYpvlrOqY/TkCrtCkWHpI/AAAAAAAABZg/ydkMTrlBLRg/s320/Nashville-Rebel--2011-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">He's the ultimate "Nashville Rebel"</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">No, really, he is!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Look how young and dapper he was...his voice makes me swoon but his "look"...</div><div style="text-align: center;">oh man oh man!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0M7UzycCRU4" width="560"></iframe><br />
He certainly was a handsome devil...dressed with his slicked back hair, button up shirts, starting out in Buddy Holly's band, then goin' on to become his own man.<br />
MEOW!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3PIeBQOg-Dc/TkCmlWAYTlI/AAAAAAAABZQ/wZni2j9u-R8/s1600/Waylon%252BJennings%252Byougn+2jennings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3PIeBQOg-Dc/TkCmlWAYTlI/AAAAAAAABZQ/wZni2j9u-R8/s400/Waylon%252BJennings%252Byougn+2jennings.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
But can I just tell you, it wasn't these young man good looks that I go for. <br />
Just like my thing for 70s Elvis...I've got a hankering for 70s Waylon.<br />
This rugged, outlaw look, it suits him well<br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(and my taste too!)</span></i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FXnvxioClMQ/TkCml6nbRFI/AAAAAAAABZU/rBDEEm-1VUE/s1600/waylon1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FXnvxioClMQ/TkCml6nbRFI/AAAAAAAABZU/rBDEEm-1VUE/s400/waylon1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> This ain't no cat's meow...this is a mighty ocelot and its cat scratch fever!<br />
I mean, seriously...did it just get hot in here?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ymOKuYEHaAI/TkCmkF3DyDI/AAAAAAAABZI/ibRfLRI9ZmI/s1600/horensteinwaylonjennings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ymOKuYEHaAI/TkCmkF3DyDI/AAAAAAAABZI/ibRfLRI9ZmI/s400/horensteinwaylonjennings.jpg" width="397" /></a></div>I'd have to say clothing and appearance wise, something with his unshaven, slightly haggard self...the look works for him. <br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Which look do you go for? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Or is this completely irrelevant to your life entirely?</span><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(I get it, some people will think he's a disgusting looking man, and some of you wont even care to read this far...while some of you, well you're down with the cowboys just like me! </span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">uh hem....cough cough, Jewel! cough cough)</span></i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-meOA6d2eoyc/TkCmlEPkmHI/AAAAAAAABZM/3ldtuHDdmKM/s1600/jPnsA8IJAIpB_m.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-meOA6d2eoyc/TkCmlEPkmHI/AAAAAAAABZM/3ldtuHDdmKM/s400/jPnsA8IJAIpB_m.jpg" width="310" /></a></div>By now, you get it...I like country; I like the cowboy 'look', I want that life!<br />
Until I somehow acquire this, I'll just keep on listening to the good ol' boys.<br />
<br />
It's good, trust me...a hot summer night, turn up the stereo, have a PBR, and sit on the porch in your rockin' chair and tell me this isn't a little slice of heaven.<br />
<br />
<i>I should probably go dust off my vintage red cowboy boots-and whip this hair into some pigtails now.</i><br />
<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">While it reminds me more of a Fall item, which I know it'll get plenty of wear right into and throughout the tights wearing season, it was lightweight enough that I could give it a try during the summertime months.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6004224318/" title="Vintage View by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/6003679229/" title="IMG_5873 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5873" height="797" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6142/6003679229_092ebfbf86_o.jpg" width="576" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Besides its ability to be versatile for the different season's, let's call it what it is:</div><div style="text-align: center;">SHORT!</div><div style="text-align: center;">And let's be honest with ourselves, or moreso with me, why did I get weak in the knees for this dress when I tried it on?</div><div style="text-align: center;">Um....because it is SHORT!</div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm a sucker for short...I love my legs, that's basically what I'm telling you</div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(PS girls-it's ok to love something about yourself, you don't have to beat yourself up about every aspect of your self image, I personally try to like one thing for everything i dislike..keep it balanced ya know? </div><div style="text-align: center;">I had a doctor's appt. the other day, and when visiting the doctor I try to look a little better than usual. </div><div style="text-align: center;"> I don't want them writing anything "funny" in my chart such as I look battered and bruised.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">(because I am bruised...I got to a lot of concerts where jabs are received, and sometimes fists and kicks come my way)</span></em></div><div style="text-align: center;">Somehow is this dillusional head of mine, I think looking like a lady in a pretty lil' dress will detour the doc's eyes from my usual haggard physical appearance.</div><div style="text-align: center;">-Side note, I did not achieve this goal...sure enough, as was the case at last year's exam, the doctor asked me about my bruises.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">(I'm convinced she's written in my file to keep an eye out for possible domestic abuse--its true, sometimes I'm that banged up, but never in the face...and if it is anyone hitting me-well its my own fault, not someone else abusing me...let's just be clear.)</span></em></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5952390763/" title="IMG_5739 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5739" height="827" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6014/5952390763_6da747bf4c_o.jpg" width="576" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">So ok, we've established:</div><div style="text-align: center;">A.) It's HOT outside, </div><div style="text-align: center;">B.) I tried to look like a lady and wear a dress, and </div><div style="text-align: center;">C.) </div><div style="text-align: center;">Big fat deal right? </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Right!</div><div style="text-align: center;">So let's talk clothes.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I got this "new" vintage dress at Beacon's Closet on Sunday.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I can't tell what decade its from, I'm guessing the '90s.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">(Um, </span></em><a href="http://dustyrosevintage.blogspot.com/"><em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">Dusty Rose</span></em></a><em><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">...wanna help me out with this one?)</span></em></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5952942756/" title="IMG_5749 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5749" height="782" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6146/5952942756_eb53722ea4_o.jpg" width="576" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I was drawn to it due to the yellow nature, I like yellow...not enough people veer toward yellow. </div><div style="text-align: center;">I also really dig burnt orange-y browns mixed with Black.</div><div style="text-align: center;">So this dress was the whole shebang!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">and it was cotton and airy and floaty...completely something begging to be worn in 90+ temps, no?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5952943860/" title="IMG_5777 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5777" height="720" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6025/5952943860_147ee36882_o.jpg" width="576" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Overall, it was kinda an entire vintage outfit, but throughoughly workable for the modern day world.</div><div style="text-align: center;">-The purse if vintage from my trip to the Poconos last year</div><div style="text-align: center;">-The belt is vintage from my favorite thrift store in Ohio</div><div style="text-align: center;">-The shoes are vintage, or "gently used" at least, from Beacon's Closet a few years back</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Just in time for <a href="http://wildasamink.blogspot.com/search/label/Music%20Monday">Music Monday</a>,<br />
<br />
I happened to go to an all day free festival/concert this weekend at the <a href="http://www.southstreetseaport.com/">Southstreet Seaport</a>.<br />
<br />
It was the Village Voice's answer to having cancelled Siren Fest for good...so they were kind enough to bring NYers:<br />
<br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">The 4 Knots Music Festival</span></b><br />
<br />
There were a few bands I wanted to see!<br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(check them out if you want something new, or maybe you've already heard of them if you're in the know...I am soooooo not "in the know"; I used my San Fransisco friend's music knowledge to find out about one of these bands, then some other friends told me about a few others...but a free show is a free show, and I'm all about free shows and discovering bands I didn't know existed.)</span></i><br />
<br />
One such band I went to see was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Davila 666 </span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(this is the SF friend's suggestion from a few months back, Thanks Kristine!...they did not disappoint; although then again I watched from a balcony overlooking the stage because $5.00 pitchers of beer were calling my name in the hot summer heat, its rare when I stick around front and center for a band if $5 beer is available nearby)</span></i><br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zk63ttopTz8" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
Another band I happened to catch, actually as soon as I walked up they were already playing, was <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_Friedberger"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Eleanor Friedberger</span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">. </span><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(Now I'll admit I didn't even know who this was, let alone go to see her, but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed her sound! Further research told me she's 1 part of Fiery Furnaces, I wish I knew this kinda stuff beforehand...duh!)</span></i><br />
<br />
This girl has some fun style, she's quirky and pretty<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;"> (look at google images!)</span></i>...what any girl strives for, right? ummmmm Ok maybe just me. <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5952938630/" title="Eleanor Friedberger by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Eleanor Friedberger" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6150/5952938630_7d517c0460_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
After a few more songs of hers, my buddy Jess and I walked down to the end of the Pier to check out the sights. You see, Southstreet Seaport is not an area of Manhattan I usually tend to frequent...um NO! Not my scene, just my scene for that day...mostly populated by the likes of tourists, sorority types <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(sorry girls if this is you, but its not my thing)</span></i>, and other douche-y characters I'd rather not deal with. <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(yes, I'm stereotyping the Southstreet Seaport "set", but I'll be you 9x out of 10, I've got it nailed!)</span></i><br />

With that being said, I won't lie...its pretty nice; beautiful actually...breezy, sunny, and oh-so-nautical!<br />

If only there was a Jack Sparrow on one of these ships, my little heart would've gone " pitter-patter! "<br />
Bummer, no such luck!<br />

After our little jaunt around the pier, a few $5 pitchers of beer, we went back down to face the masses that had joined the crowd since we were last down in the pit. We weaseled our way up front, just as any experienced cute concert goer should be able to do, and we had a great view for the band we came to see,<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.titusandronicus.net/">TITUS ANDRONICUS</a>!</span><br />

Holy hell...an electric violin...they were pretty darn good. A bit of a stupid mosh pit broke out but really what's that; like we can't hold our own ground when jabs are being taken and people are crowd surfing? Actually I just laughed while I shoved back, seriously ...people still do that? Maybe I'm old, but maybe I held up just fine against the youngin's...YEAH!<br />

Oh geez...what a hot day in the sun, full of free music and cheap beer. It was just as I imagined it to be...and now I hope you go and listen to some of these bands, or the ones listed on the 4 Knots flier and tell me what you think. Good, bad, just not your cup of tea???<br />
<br />
What about the Seaport, you think you'd hang out here? Yikes! um, sure you want to read my blog if you answered "yes"? Something about the financial district, going that far downtown, ewwww just BORING in my world. But to each his own right? I don't expect you to like my things, and you should not expect me to like the Southstreet Seaport enough to really go back. <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(oh wait, I spoke too soon...darn, I have to go back on 7/31 'cause the Raveonettes are playing for free down there...looks like I've got one more trip to get in under my belt before I call it quits w/the Seaport. wish me luck! It could be worse...I mean it could be TIMES SQUARE--eeek!)</span></i><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5952940664/" title="Electric Violin by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5952386497/" title="IMG_5706 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5706" height="714" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6023/5952386497_72a79eb6e7_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Oh, just FYI, it was hot, I wanted to be comfy, that's about all I know with this outfit--short skirt, see through loose fitting top, Yep...cool and comfy <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(and somewhat questionable as always!)</span></i>.<br />

Oh and of course on our way out we couldn't leave without tagging up a graffiti wall w/some gang paraphernalia! yay for leftover stickers in Jess' bag! We're nerds of the best sort what can I say!?!<br />

Obviously by the time we were leaving and off the subway we worked up a hunger and were again thirsty...free pizza with every beer just called to us!<br />
Yummy...dinner time!<br />

We shoved our faces then we went home.<br />
This has nothing to do with music, just the pizza is really good for being FREE! It looks gross, it is gross, but for free--its delicious!<br />
<br />
Sooooooooo, ok...go listen to some music! Hope you like something I talked about...if not, what are you listenin' to???<br />
I want to know...as I said, "I'm soooooo not in the know", so help a girl out musically wouldya!?!Wild as a Minkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10000767179276252163noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186966018084812561.post-10185368561761065162011-07-16T10:59:00.000-04:002011-07-16T10:59:16.220-04:00Daily Wear: This Chick is Toast!Last Thursday I went to the Brooklyn Bridge Park for a FREE outdoor movie. <br />
These events require my friends and I<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;"> </span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(uh-hem, I mean the</span> <a href="http://downtowndolls.blogspot.com/">Downtown Dolls</a> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">to be exact, er...actually one of the Doll's BFs in our case-Thanks MATT!)</span></i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;"> </span>to get there wayyyyyy in advance to scope out prime real estate for our blankets and viewing needs. When I say, "wayyyyyy in advance", we're talking like 2.5hrs before the movie even starts <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(I mean look here, the movie started around 8:45pm, this is 6:45pm below...and I could only fit about 1/16 of the crowd into my camera's scope...WOAH!)</span></i><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5942697949/" title="Ghostbusters @ BK Bridge park by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Ghostbusters @ BK Bridge park" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6121/5942697949_d2db1ecc35_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
The movie at hand was none other than one of the most classic films of 1984, "GHOSTBUSTERS"!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5942697949/" title="Ghostbusters @ BK Bridge park by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cyRqR56aCKc" width="425"></iframe><br />
So I took my bell-bottom wearin' self, with my gang vest on, and popped a squat on a grassy knoll with an angled view of the screen. It worked, and it was the best we could do for watching...but I'm not complaining.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5943254268/" title="IMG_5690 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5690" height="639" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6005/5943254268_f458c8f6f6_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Friends were there, as mentioned...some arrived early, some arrived late. Mel arrived in her new summertime WHITE gang vest...ooh-lala; I'm jealous actually! <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(first time for everything, as jealousy towards friends does not arise much out of me)</span></i><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5943254268/" title="IMG_5690 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5942698045/" title="IMG_5689 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5689" height="864" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6028/5942698045_60954e70f0_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Snacks galore were there for the taking...I was partial to our friend Matt's plethora of goodness. He brought popcorn <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6fa8dc;">(took it upon himself to pop 3 bags of stovetop popcorn because he must know we girls have hearty appetites)</span></i>, Peanut M&Ms, granola bars...lets just say it was a way better selection than some crappy "popcorn chip" I picked up at my local grocer...I should've known there was a reason mine were 2 for $4.00. I fell for a sale! Of course I did.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5942698045/" title="IMG_5689 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5942698155/" title="IMG_5686 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5686" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6134/5942698155_7ffe9a7532_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And speaking of food...it reminds me of what I said to myself this morning as I made my breakfast, only because I told the gang at the movie I was going to say this...maybe I think its the best line in the movie by far,<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">"THIS CHICK IS TOAST!!!!" </span><br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/E0Yx4dhulh0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">So peace-out yo...</span><br />
<br />

Apparently I should be FIRED...I've been sleepin' on the job or something like that. Sleeping on my job I'm doing for <a href="http://www.garrottdesigns.com/">Garrott Designs</a> that is.<br />
Wasn't it part of the agreement that I post a new look each week using the "Without my Muse" tshirt from Garrott? Yes, yes it was...I'll admit that. I played "Rip Van Winkle" on us for the past few weeks; I was tired...what can I say?<br />
Luckily, I didn't forget the lil' <a href="http://www.garrottdesigns.com/store.html">Garrott Tee</a> and I put it to good use while I was snoozin' away. <br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Does it, or does it not make the perfect sleep shirt?</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5916945169/" title="IMG_5644 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917505362/" title="IMG_5634 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5634" height="735" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6128/5917505362_0d49f58b12_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So one day I quit my yawning, had a cup of coffee, and found myself back on track...showing you that the Garrott Tee is great for sleeping. <br />
Now, I went with a fitted tight version, I like fitted things when I slumber...do you prefer more oversized, like a boyfriend tee? Because Garrott's got you covered either way--just buy a size or two bigger than necessary and you got yourself a nightgown practically.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917505362/" title="IMG_5634 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917505574/" title="IMG_5663 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5663" height="852" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6129/5917505574_6ce52ebe5a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Anyhow, back to my preference...as mentioned, I like fitted shirts for snoozin'; maybe its so the girls stay where I want them to, maybe its just because I like tight things.<br />
Tight, fitted tees, are perfect compliments for loose flowly pajama pants, or a billowy silky wrap...case in point, both pj styles shown here.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917505574/" title="IMG_5663 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917506008/" title="IMG_5675 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5675" height="719" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6003/5917506008_fa6e3f0b9f_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
But enough about my sleepy time fashions; what's your pj style? Or do you opt for your birthday suit? <i>(What if there's a fire??? What would you do then? Yeah...YIKES; this is the kinda stuff I think about)</i><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917506008/" title="IMG_5675 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5917506274/" title="IMG_5674 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5674" height="826" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6004/5917506274_49c6213605_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Wearing in both looks-The Garrott Tee<i> (available for purchase </i><a href="http://www.garrottdesigns.com/store.html"><i>HERE</i></a><i>)</i><br />
All other pj pieces from H&M<br />
<br />
yawn....alas its almost midnite, my self declared weekday bedtime. 'Nitey nite friends!<br />

July 4th, 1776--You're 235 yrs young! So in true American "fashion", I took my butt down to the tip of Brooklyn, any guesses just where I went?<br />

Yeah that's right...my friends and I went to the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest...and it was rad as all get-out!<br />
I've been once before, but this year I enjoyed it immensely! It was America in all its finest glory, hotdogs, brews, sunshine, and Americans just being American! What more can you ask for?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907086565/" title="IMG_5608 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907083529/" title="IMG_5578 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5578" height="601" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6002/5907083529_6e1fe9f3d3_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907637324/" title="IMG_5568 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5568" height="391" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6004/5907637324_bb7348f604_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Being that I used to be a HUGE carnivore back in the day, I haven't quite given up those ways so I ate a hotdog, why not? It was really really good!<br />
<br />
And I saw a man on stilts, oh wait, that's Uncle Sam, right?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907637324/" title="IMG_5568 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907638050/" title="IMG_5583 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5583" height="766" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5039/5907638050_0801223948_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I also had to witness some very questionable acrobatics, not sure these "pure" eyes should've been privy to that view...eek!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907638050/" title="IMG_5583 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907638718/" title="IMG_5588 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5588" height="716" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5074/5907638718_c0af96a17b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And of course...who are we not to hit up the beer garden? Especially when its a shithole sandpit called "Beer Island"?? um, amazing!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907638718/" title="IMG_5588 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907085055/" title="Jess-BeerIsland by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Jess-BeerIsland" height="765" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5159/5907085055_5cf86ddf41_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And what would you expect me to wear on such a holiday as the 4th of July? Last year I wore a cropped top American flag tee, so this year I simply could not do that again...instead I went just for the "rock'n out at the beach, on the 4th of july" look--by that I mean, trashy as possible. <br />
<br />
If you've ever been to southern indiana during the summertime, this is something similar to what you'd find at this thing called "Thunder on the Ohio"--believe me, I was channeling my Indiana roots with these cut-offs for sure!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907085055/" title="Jess-BeerIsland by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907086905/" title="beerisland by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="beerisland" height="699" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6043/5907086905_46fb13e920_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Boy oh boy...did I bring the heat to the beach! Is it hot in here, or is it just me???<br />
bahahahahaahaha, um more like the sun was like someone opened a screendoor to hell if we wanna talk "heat"...I got some sun, it was freakin hot out there, i'd hope i got some color.<br />
<br />
Regardless, with a lyric like this on the back of my vintage Poison tshirt, I'm going to bet I brought some higher temps with me as I walked too and fro. <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907086905/" title="beerisland by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907087247/" title="poison by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="poison" height="649" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5316/5907087247_202cd42edf_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So whatever you found yourself doing for the 4th, I hope it was fun. I hope you got to kick back, relax, and enjoy some ice cold beverages of whatever sort you prefer. Throw in a hotdog here and there...and that's a damn fine 4th of July.<br />
<br />
America, I'm just gonna say..."you're birthday rocks my socks!" Wait, I'm not wearing socks...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907087247/" title="poison by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5907640960/" title="Nickie-BeerIsland by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Nickie-BeerIsland" height="847" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6011/5907640960_b24a199ced_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

Thankfully I remembered...how else could I have been so self obsessed to take photos of myself in the mirror? duh!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5885913153/" title="Drunk Brunch-reflection by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Drunk Brunch-reflection" height="544" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5024/5885913153_71979cc8d4_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
As per my usual breakfast preference, I chose an egg-y treat. The Sweet Jane Scramble to be exact.<br />
And those are indeed TOTS on the plate...tots and a side of bacon, god I could go for that right now!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5885913255/" title="My Breakfast by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="My Breakfast" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6002/5885913255_4f690eb6bf_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
After brunch we headed to McCarren Park for some R&R and to-go margaritas of course. It's a novelty to the out-of-towners, and I thought it was a MUST that they partake in the fun of drinks in a public outdoor setting--the lid keeps it safe, totally NOT an open container, right?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5885913435/" title="To go Margarita in McCarren Park by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="To go Margarita in McCarren Park" height="374" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5228/5885913435_279f74f8d5_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Then of course, it was time for more pictures of ME.....did I ever tell you I would date myself? Yeah this is my motto these days, and i'm stickin' to it. <br />
I mean who wouldn't want to date themselves if they acted as classy as I do? Everyone loves a girl re-enacting a moment of wetting herself, no?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5886481164/" title="Untitled by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="750" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5103/5886481164_953eac6cdc_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Or one that throws all "ladylike behavior" out the window...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5885914797/" title="(un)ladylike conduct by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="(un)ladylike conduct" height="859" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5079/5885914797_4c3872f60b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
But really...lets talk outfit gibberish.<br />
<br />
I love this dress, I always want to wear it, i usually forget to wear it, but alas....brunch was the perfect moment for it, and I not only remembered my camera, I remembered to wear the dress. It's a wee bit short, and the sleeves are too short as is usually the case with most sleeved vintage I buy. A quick roll of the sleeves solves that and makes it all the more cool and comfy in the hot summer sun anyhow.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5885914115/" title="Brunch by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Brunch" height="805" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5024/5885914115_754634b932_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
No worries about the shortness of the whole thing...why that's where my trusty cut-offs come in handy. Throw my fave summertime staple under the dress and I can be as unlady-like as I damn well please!<br />
Problem solved!!!!!!! And now I must go date myself...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5886481900/" title="Short Shorts for Short Dress by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Short Shorts for Short Dress" height="818" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5187/5886481900_8790365ce5_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

PS-Who's ready to get the firecrackers out and blow off some digits?? It's 4th of July weekend Ya'll! Let's get white-trashy; cause you know I will!!!Wild as a Minkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10000767179276252163noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186966018084812561.post-87686839757678862232011-06-29T13:12:00.000-04:002011-06-29T13:12:51.589-04:00Daily Wear: WOAH...What Happened?When there's a friend in town you know I'm not one to sit at home...Hell NO! We go out, and we go out RIGHT!<br />
Usually, being someone's first visit to the city, I love to overload their senses by taking them to this crazy Indian Restaurant, Panna II. If you ask me, it mostly just doubles as a fire hazard, what with all the chili pepper lights and all...but it also moonlights as a wonderful memory for my visiting friends to take home with them.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5883481844/" title="IMG_5496 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5496" height="457" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6043/5883481844_3b728ded20_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So, with Alex of "<a href="http://alexandraswonderland.blogspot.com/">Alex's Wonderland</a>" being in town to visit her college roomie, <a href="http://kellwanhainen.blogspot.com/">Sew Me Some Love</a>, we took our wonderful selves to that very restaurant!<br />
I hope the girls liked it...because its pretty tasty cheap food, and makes for lovely pics, no?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5882918129/" title="IMG_5494 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5494" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5112/5882918129_3deb6ecc40_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Of course if I'm going to be out and about, I need some of my regular partners in crime to help me rile up the townfolk and show the visitors a good time.<br />
So thanks dolls for tagging along and being your badass selves!!!!!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5882918647/" title="IMG_5511 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5511" height="687" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6027/5882918647_2805da4896_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

Let's just say we got down with our crazy selves...or, er....um............ maybe I just got down? Who really knows what happened, because I certainly cannot get my head out of the fog that was Saturday Night.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5883482558/" title="IMG_5518 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5518" height="852" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6024/5883482558_5f2b913a80_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So let's hear it for friends visiting from faraway lands <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(ok not really, Indiana is NOT that far),</span></em> friends closeby, and saturday nights in NYC!!! never ever a dull moment.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5882919267/" title="IMG_5517 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5517" height="746" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5304/5882919267_6a3ee04b79_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

Part 2 of my Colorado getaway found me in the mountains. On sunday my sister's friend took us for a drive up <a href="http://www.mountevans.com/">Mt. Evans</a>; its the highest paved road in North America--and man was it awesome!!!!!!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864769465/" title="IMG_5360 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5360" height="384" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6004/5864769465_e44f4ae66e_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
It was a whirlwind of different environments all in one day's adventure...from lakes and warm temps, to snowcapped mountains and a high of 35degrees at the top of the mountain.<br />
<br />
It's blatently obvious I was not dressed appropriately as is the usual case with me.<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864767711/" title="IMG_5359 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5359" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5028/5864767711_dd744732cb_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
We saw ice and then cacti, go figure...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5865327230/" title="IMG_5414 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5414" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5310/5865327230_abf6be4523_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And we were so high up my head was in the clouds!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5865322306/" title="IMG_5380 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5380" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5311/5865322306_613553775a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I'm going to point something out to you right now...I did not shower beforehand; so there you go kids-this is what my gross self looks like when I am in the wilderness not really giving a crap if mothernature likes my au natural self or not. <br />
<br />
This goes to show you however that I am one that MUST wash my hair everyday, or else I risk stringly ratty babyfine locks that just go limp. boooooo!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864769619/" title="IMG_5365 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5365" height="384" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2682/5864769619_c28ae9111d_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864770587/" title="IMG_5394 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5394" height="484" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5301/5864770587_f03bd053c4_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Based on these two photos, its clear my sister is the more practical one in my family--she was dressed in normal shoes, a fleece, and well here I was in 5" heels and shorts! brrrrrrrrrr is about all I can tell you I was feeling that day!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864770251/" title="IMG_5391 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5391" height="861" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3113/5864770251_3128fbef4d_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Regardless of my lack of good mountain attire, it was a wonderful time. I had a blast seeing all the beauty nature has to offer. It really is gorgeous...and a welcome view when you're used to nothing but pavement and skyscrapers. The only highrises I was seeing out in CO were the majestic Rocky Mountains, and man did I love it. Believe it or not...I do like outdoors stuff, nature, and yeah-FRESH AIR!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864771589/" title="IMG_5396 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5396" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5022/5864771589_30831c8272_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Being the girl I am however, a lot of outdoorsy stuff can really make me thirsty. So we drove back down the mountain and stopped at a roadside bar called Cactus Jack's Saloon.<br />
Boy was I in luck...as we walked up there was live music, and a rockabilly band at that! Um...HEAVEN? Yes yes yes!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864771749/" title="Cactus Jacks by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Cactus Jacks" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5148/5864771749_9a98134a53_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
After our thrist quenchers (rum and diet for me), we headed to the <a href="http://www.redrocksonline.com/">Red Rocks</a> to check out the legendary ampitheater. OMG, WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!<br />
This place was insanely cool! You can stand on the stage and belt out tunes just to check out the acoustics, ya know? <br />
Or you can challenge your unfit self to a quick stair climb...I would not suggest this, as I quickly found out my lungs could not handle the physical activity and high altitude. HOLY SHORTNESS OF BREATH, Batman!!!!!!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5865324540/" title="IMG_5399 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5399" height="668" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3084/5865324540_67daffc445_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Really though, this place was rad...a 9,000 seat ampitheater built into the natural land formations; <br />
ah-maz-ing!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864772439/" title="IMG_5403 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5403" height="864" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3052/5864772439_df32f3d6f3_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864772805/" title="IMG_5401 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5401" height="864" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5318/5864772805_f8dd627960_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
At this point, the sun was setting, it was getting downright chilly, and I was done, and done! Mother nature wiped me out, I lost all fashion sense, and I was FREEEEEEEEEEEZING! <br />
Lucky sis' friend let me wear his fleece cause he's a nice dude like that...always a fashion statement coming from this girl, eh?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5864771337/" title="IMG_5400 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5400" height="662" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5156/5864771337_2bf32a27a1_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
There ya go...my Colorado vacation. It was a short 4day trip, but well worth it and much needed. The fresh air, friends faces, everything about it was PERFECT!<br />
Sooooooooooooooooo yep, I'm ready to go back anytime someone wants to let me crash out there! Fun fun fun!Wild as a Minkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10000767179276252163noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186966018084812561.post-2725973433827657062011-06-24T13:55:00.000-04:002011-06-24T13:55:42.120-04:00Colorado Vacay-PT.1: "WHITE WEDDING"As promised, I thought I'd give you a little glimpse into my Colorado getaway I had this past weekend. The first and foremost reason I went there was because one of my longtime Kent State buddies was getting married...sometimes it is soooooooooooo crazy to think that I've known him since I was 18! And while we lost touch for a few years, it was a great thing to turn 30 because we both invited one another to our bday bashes and we became closer friends now than we were in college. Nonetheless I've always thought he was uber cool and fun to hang out with. But there you have it, what better reason to travel than for a wedding???<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Congratulations you two!</span> <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(the lovely couple during their first dance)</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858434715/" title="IMG_5339 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5339" height="838" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5186/5858434715_2fd71c7510_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
As a guest, with no responsibilities, I had it easy...just lounge by the pool, get drunk, and look semi-decent. I chose a dress that <a href="http://showgirlgodzilla.tumblr.com/">Showgirl Godzilla</a> <span style="color: black;">had</span> given to me last year cause she had no use for it and it isn't really her size <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(we are two different body types for sure</span><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">)</span>.</em> <br />
<br />
It's an elegant lil' # if I do say so myself, in a bold color-just the way I like it...I'm not one to slink into the background and be a wallflower as we know.<br />
<br />
Being that the dress was a solid color I thought it was a perfect pairing to throw in a printed bag. I've had this furry vintage leopard clutch for ages--just another thrift store treat I picked up for myself back in the ol' college days...and its still getting use!<br />
<br />
And of course, something so loud and tangerine/coral-y, as this dress, calls for GOLD accessories, a sky high pair of strappy gold shoes always does the trick.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5859014462/" title="dress1 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="dress1" height="834" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5104/5859014462_62279844c4_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Being as how I'm manless at the moment, I opted to take my sister...or moreso she opted to step in and be my +1 for numerous reasons. Thanks sis--you're the best!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858432369/" title="IMG_5321 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5321" height="645" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5114/5858432369_2249113b8e_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
The wedding was lovely as can be,<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858985852/" title="IMG_5323 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5323" height="450" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5221/5858985852_9e7e37cb6f_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
a cute cake which I eyeballed all night until it was finally time to dig in,<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858987330/" title="IMG_5333 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5333" height="485" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5313/5858987330_9f1574718a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Myself and a new-ish friend <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(I had met her 2yrs prior at the 30th bday bash, and well we hit it off cause she's rad),</span></em> chattin' it up before the ever so popular with the single ladies, BOUQUET TOSS <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(yet again, I did not catch it...gah!),</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858987972/" title="IMG_5350 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5350" height="637" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5142/5858987972_6b671e973f_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Lots of silly antics with Jolly Ranchers-certainly it had nothing to do with the open bar, <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858988550/" title="IMG_5345 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5345" height="492" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5279/5858988550_f37fc90171_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And just lots of friends, old college pals,<br />
<em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(must I say it again? I'm completely 100% "one of the guys", always have been and always will be)</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858983818/" title="IMG_5308 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5308" height="419" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5033/5858983818_1660ebae88_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Ones I've gotten to know thru the past 2yrs having become friends with the bride and all,<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858984732/" title="IMG_5305 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5305" height="864" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3170/5858984732_7e634169d5_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And the new-ish friends that are forever going to be my partners in crime at these types of things when we're all together! <span style="font-size: large;">Aubri & Mark--you two are a BLAST!</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858985684/" title="IMG_5322 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5322" height="714" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5111/5858985684_e93cf6f3c7_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
That's what weddings are all about! Good friends, food, drink, and music...and lots of hilarious good times!<br />
Love you two lovebirds, I had a wonderful time at the wedding and I still can't thank you enough for the invite! I'm glad I could be a part of it, because really it was one of the best weddings I ever attended! <br />
<span style="font-size: large;">WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY TOO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!</span><br />

<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">But for now, let's settle for what I wore today (6/21/11).</span></span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858515167/" title="IMG_5434 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5434" height="821" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2433/5858515167_c9e551fb1b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5858515167/" title="IMG_5434 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5859067966/" title="Wedgies by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Wedgies" height="851" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5113/5859067966_b7a89a9659_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
A pretty typically easy summertime outfit for me. A little edgy, a little stark, a little simplistic...sure;<br />
but c'mon,<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">did you get a look at those new peep-toe wedges I'm sporting?</span></span><br />
<br />
Seriously, insanely gorgeous if you ask me...then again I'm kinda into everything I do and own and say and think...I'm full of myself, what more do you want from me? Hey, if I didn't like these booties, why would I have bought the in the first place-so really is it that narcissistic of me to say that my booties are gorgeous? <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(eh, no need for comment really, I know the answer)</span></i><br />
I'm sure at least 50% of you will agree with me though, they're the shit! They clock me in at about 6ft tall, are easy and sturdy to walk in <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(I wore them in the mountains, yes I'm ridiculous, but yes they are really easy to walk in that's all I'm getting at)</span></i>, and the snakeskin surface adds a dose of texture that I just love.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5859067966/" title="Wedgies by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5859067274/" title="IMG_5451 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5451" height="649" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3063/5859067274_b8755f0618_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
In addition, I plopped on a few more pieces I tend to wear on a near daily basis: a pair of oversized sunnies, my fringe scarf <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(which is smelling like outdoor dog right now, and I still wore it...I'm not one to shy away from a dog scent, I just spritz on some perfume-it'll mask it, right?)</span></i>, and my fave little fringey wannabe rocker-girl purse.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5859067274/" title="IMG_5451 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5859067078/" title="IMG_5423 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5423" height="644" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5074/5859067078_695d33cf8e_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And that's how I roll on a first day back to work after a mini-vacation. Easy pieces, a bright pop of color, and a great pair of architecturally sculpted peep-toe booties <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(of course making me one of the tallest girls on the subway--my goal each day!)</span></i>, makes for a great transition back to the real world of the "day job".<br />

Don't forget to check back soon when I dish out my long-weekend getaway; I promise--its kinda rad!Wild as a Minkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10000767179276252163noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186966018084812561.post-79238486268980607172011-06-16T13:03:00.000-04:002011-06-16T13:03:46.174-04:00The Garrott Tee: Look #17-Leader of the PackI told you in my last post about my girl gang...Well I'm the LEADER of that PACK! And to be a leader you gotta put on your game face, live up to a certain "role", be ruthless and tough!!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826405443/" title="IMG_5291 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5291" height="812" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3030/5826405443_8ca3a57eb2_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cut up tshirts, shredded DIY style, it all works for this girl and her "mean face"...and to get there, I use the </span><a href="http://www.garrottdesigns.com/store.html"><span style="font-size: large;">Garrott Tee</span></a><span style="font-size: large;">!</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826405467/" title="IMG_5300 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5300" height="801" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3427/5826405467_e718b4fa75_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
This week I took my cut-up, slashed to the nines tshirt from <a href="http://www.garrottdesigns.com/index.html">Garrott Designs</a>, and accessorized my gang vest with it-or vice versa, however you want to look at it.<br />
<br />
You might recall its actually a basic tshirt body, it just happens to have this amazing original artwork on it...but I have taken my scissors to it showing no mercy with every snip. <br />
This week I did not do anymore cuts, rips, ties, etc...just took the same version of the tshirt from <a href="http://wildasamink.blogspot.com/2011/06/garrott-tee-look-16-diy-ventilation.html">Look #16</a>, and paired it with my typical girl-gang attire.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826405463/" title="IMG_5297 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5297" height="772" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5154/5826405463_7ba37d7c6c_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Its very imperative I keep up appearances, I've worked hard to create a "character", an "attitude", for my alter-ego...and if i were to dress too girly with this vest, well it just would not be JOAN THREAT.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Luckily, the Garrott Tee I cut up keeps me shootin' daggers with my eyes and spittin' vinegar with every word.</span><br />
Its a PERFECT addition to my attire when I take my walk and talk to the mean streets of Brooklyn!<br />

Not sure how well you know me, so this may be a well known fact, or little known secret, to you...but yeah-I started a girl gang last summer! So if you see me in this vest, or you hear me mention the <a href="http://downtowndolls.blogspot.com/">Downtown Dolls</a>-that's my street crew!<br />
I will not get into it much, since you can easily click the links <a href="http://downtowndolls.blogspot.com/">here</a>, or the DTD badge on my side panel to read up on our mischief.<br />
<br />
But the girls keep me busy, keep my head on the ground, and keep me rollin' in the fun! <br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Thank goodness for weekends like this past one, 'nuff said!</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827113992/" title="IMG_5200 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5200" height="630" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2798/5827113992_aa5a3713bb_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">Saturday: June 11, 2011-</span></i></span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827113992/" title="IMG_5200 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826542585/" title="Helloooo Chanel by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Helloooo Chanel" height="825" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2430/5826542585_9df560b71a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
It started out with me thinking it was actually summer, after all is it not June? Well weather does not always cooperate with my plans to wear cut-offs at all times on the summer weekends, and brrrrr was I chilly! <br />
Being rainy and cold, the<a href="http://www.renegadecraft.com/"> Renegade Craft Fair</a> we went to in McCarren Park was a bit of a bust...at first. I am one cranky lil' "B" when I'm miserable-and chilly air, rain, and too many people tend to make me one giant grouch. So the first half of the day was not one to make me smile...obviously the pic above was taken when the rain went away and I was much more people-friendly.<br />
<br />
So yes, we went to the craft fair. It was fun, especially since <a href="http://kellywanhainen.blogspot.com/">SewMeSomeLove</a> is hangin' out with us for most of the summer <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(she's like my fake-lil' sister having known her the past 21yrs of my life, and well my real life intern)</span></i>...we get to take her to these things and show her around and overall just make her see how awesome NYC is <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(especially in the summertime)</span></i>!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826542585/" title="Helloooo Chanel by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826541927/" title="Renegade Craft Fair by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Renegade Craft Fair" height="384" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2626/5826541927_6fc39ab1a3_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827092192/" title="IMG_5187 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5187" height="681" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2623/5827092192_fdb65d1de1_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Between the oodles and oodles of ogling I did, all the jewelry I wanted, and the loot to be had...can you believe I walked away with just a silly owl pin for my vest? Actually, its not all that surprising of me now that I think of it.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827092192/" title="IMG_5187 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827092558/" title="IMG_5199 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5199" height="768" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2792/5827092558_95318a6b6b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I did however snag some presents for friends, so it wasn't all a lost cause I suppose...I guess I just like when I can justify buying something for myself as well. Not happenin' lately.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827092558/" title="IMG_5199 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826541173/" title="IMG_5197 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5197" height="495" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2501/5826541173_faf043c693_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
We also spent Saturday eating and drinking, having some brunch you know? We gravitate toward <a href="http://www.barmatchless.com/">Matchless,</a> a bar in Greenpoint A LOT...it's almost like our second clubhouse. They have a pretty cheap yummy menu so it works for us!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826541173/" title="IMG_5197 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826523653/" title="Matchless Brunch w/the girls by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Matchless Brunch w/the girls" height="612" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5073/5826523653_e5bab6c542_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
While waiting for food we of course got all hammy for the camera--I for one thought I'd show you I actually have wavy hair, when it gets rained on this is what it does! Buggers!!!!<br />
And the overcast skies are making me look like I have gray hair, no? I swear it is NOT gray...but its so silvery blonde here, WTF is up with that??<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826523653/" title="Matchless Brunch w/the girls by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826523667/" title="Joan Threat...does brunch by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Joan Threat...does brunch" height="576" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2758/5826523667_570659d139_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

So that was Saturday. I had all good intentions to go out later that evening, but it was a long long day and I just got way too comfy at home around 10pm to think about getting up to go out.<br />
<br />
It was a long chilly day, what can I say...it wears a girl out!<br />

And let me give a HUGE thank you to my buddy, <a href="http://dustyrosevintage.blogspot.com/">Dusty Rose Vintage</a>, for letting me borrow a cardigan since it was so cold on Saturday...a vintage CHANEL cardigan that is! I was a bit smitten for a moment when I put my arms in the sleeves-I realized I would probably never wear Chanel again <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(oh but actually I could wear it right now as I type this considering its in my bedroom right now...I'll give it back soon, I promise).</span></i><br />

Again, hanging out with some of my girls...we first stopped at <a href="http://www.madmuseum.org/">The Museum of Art & Design</a>.<br />
We went there for a David Bowie retrospective, but I ended up really liking the entire museum...for the first time ever I did not lose my attention span at all!<br />
<br />
I did however, not think to take pics of the David Bowie portion, but it came naturally when I got to the diorama exhibit encompassing two floors--seriously, amazing! My camera was click, click, click'n away--such tiny little models, little environments, little everything--it was really cool to think that people sit around and make things like this for fun, or a living, or whatever. I want to build models!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826712319/" title="IMG_5220 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826712049/" title="beautysalon by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="beautysalon" height="784" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3145/5826712049_4354d05510_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
The top set of pictures is A.) a model (top most pic) of a blown up beauty salon, and B.) a photo (bottom pic) of the model looking all realistic and lifelike! Pretty cool, no?<br />
<br />
I loved the below pic because it was a large model of a building and you looked into a tiny cut out square and that's what was inside!<br />
I felt like I was secretly peering into a world I should not know of. There were a few pieces like this done by different artists. Again, soooo cool!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826712049/" title="beautysalon by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264366/" title="IMG_5221 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5221" height="429" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3426/5827264366_a06a027da9_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I also really enjoyed the mini worlds inside the snow globes.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264366/" title="IMG_5221 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264654/" title="IMG_5240 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5240" height="384" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3319/5827264654_ffe74a0482_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
But my favorite piece of all was this spinning strobe lighted carousel thing. The combination of rotating surfaces and strobe lights made it appear as if it wasn't going round and round at high speeds at all. But my camera captured the motion!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264654/" title="IMG_5240 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264988/" title="carousel by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="carousel" height="388" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2495/5827264988_9ae5d4ed2d_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
There was also a modern furniture type exhibit going on. I rather quite liked this chair because it consisted of vintage wedding gowns. God knows there's enough of those in existence, but what a great idea! I completely want like 2 ottomans made of this same technique...I think I could do it-um, just don't sit on them if you ever come to visit...kerplunk!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264988/" title="carousel by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264810/" title="IMG_5243 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5243" height="384" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3635/5827264810_f97eff5442_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
These lil' guys were right next to the furniture, but not sure what they were a part of, I just thought they were handsome dudes!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827264810/" title="IMG_5243 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826713827/" title="IMG_5247 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5247" height="864" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2091/5826713827_b17249526d_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Then again, this gold background was next to the furniture too--and its "art"...I thought it looked more like a par-tay background photo-op, so voila! Thanks artist-guy for letting us disrespect your attempt at something worthy of a museum.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826713827/" title="IMG_5247 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827265554/" title="Par-TAY Background by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Par-TAY Background" height="784" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3497/5827265554_03ea17e87f_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
And of course me...this wouldn't be my blog without a pic or two of me now would it?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827265554/" title="Par-TAY Background by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826712607/" title="A window overlooking Columbus Circle by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="A window overlooking Columbus Circle" height="737" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3355/5826712607_f747851fba_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

The 2nd half of my day consisted of the <a href="http://www.bigapplebbq.org/">Big Apple BBQ Festival</a>! Hell YEAH!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826727593/" title="BBQ fest Crowd by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826727877/" title="IMG_5260 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5260" height="662" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3560/5826727877_f946ceda03_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Not only do I love me some good ol' southern BBQ once in a while, I also really wanted to go because <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiyXjv1aaf8">Those Darlins'</a> were playing--only one of my favorite newer bands.<br />
I saw them once last summer, but hot off the tail of their new album they stopped thru NYC to play the BBQ-fest. I'm down with that...good eats, free show, what's not to love?<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826727877/" title="IMG_5260 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827279768/" title="Those Darlins' by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Those Darlins'" height="377" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2115/5827279768_fcf9998e87_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826729147/" title="Nikki by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Nikki" height="782" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3567/5826729147_1fa19915d6_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
After the show, it was time for me to wet my appetite and taste me some BBQ!<br />
Naturally, I gravitated to the booth from Nashville, TN--where else would I get my BBQ from? Its not like Wolf's BBQ from Evansville, IN was there...so I got with the Tennessee spirit instead <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(um, I do want to one day live there you know, might as well start eating the bbq now--see what kinda treat I'm in for when I'm an old lady)</span></i><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826729147/" title="Nikki by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827280852/" title="IMG_5268 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5268" height="317" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2696/5827280852_7f1f01aca6_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
While waiting about an hour in line, I did spot this sloppy mess in the back of their smoker trailer...did it stop me from eating some bbq pork? Oh No! <br />
<br />
Instead, I might've said something like <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">"Ya'll got some pork up in here?"</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5827280852/" title="IMG_5268 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5826731425/" title="Slop by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Slop" height="745" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5273/5826731425_d584931309_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />

Hope your weekend was as filled with activity like mine. I had a blast...did you?Wild as a Minkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10000767179276252163noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186966018084812561.post-8982057857926698152011-06-11T11:14:00.002-04:002011-06-11T23:55:51.433-04:00Daily Wear: Blue Jean Baby<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312578/" title="IMG_4559 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_4559" height="753" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3111/5821312578_5b835f4b13_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I think I talked briefly about these jeans before, but not a lot.<br />
I bought them about 2 months ago, they were just slightly too long <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;"><i>(about 1-1/2")</i></span>, so I had them hemmed by a "professional", perfect length!<br />
But after getting them back from the hemming job, they were now too big in the waist, but this was a friendly favor the tailor of sorts was doing for me, so I felt wrong in asking him to take them back and fix the waist size for me now. So I sucked it up and told myself to wear a belt.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312578/" title="IMG_4559 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312896/" title="IMG_4557 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_4557" height="836" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3146/5821312896_52e49c2815_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
While the belt idea works, I still feel a wee bit of gapping and like there's too much space btwn the waistband and my body. And I'm realizing now I'd wear these jeans a whole lot more and I'd turn myself into a 70s girl if only I had the waist size correct.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312896/" title="IMG_4557 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312278/" title="IMG_4550 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_4550" height="716" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3311/5821312278_498f6f13bd_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I should probably get on fixing the waist, eh? <br />
Because these jeans do wonders for my legs...why should I let them sit in my closet just because the waist is a little big? Get your act together already, Nickie, get them fixed!<br />
Yeah, cause this leg lengthening thing these jeans do--I really really like it.<br />
<br />
This is my not so secret, secret. Buy jeans or pants a few inches too long, wear huge heeled shoes with them, the length of the pant will cover the heel of the shoe, and the world just thinks you're 6ft tall then!<br />
Shhhhhh...don't tell anyone I'm about 5" shy of 6ft; no one but you needs to know that!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312278/" title="IMG_4550 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5821312090/" title="blue jean baby by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="blue jean baby" height="856" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2553/5821312090_4ac056d02b_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So readers, if you don't see these jeans in the near future, can someone remind me to get the darn waist fixed already? If you don't see them, it means I haven't fixed them yet.<br />
Thanks in advance for remdinging me :)<br />
<br />
PS-I'm still drunk from the night before <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #9fc5e8;">(I know, not something to admit, but its true...oh, and this post is going nowhere!)</span></i><br />

But hey, its finally summertime and when that occurs that means I'm rarely at home more than just to sleep. <br />
Also, being summertime, we know what that means--me in SHORTS! LOTS OF SHORTS! Probably cut-off white trash jean shorts moreso than these, but I'll keep it classy starting out; I'm just warning you its all downhill from here.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5802705013/" title="Summer @ the Movies by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Summer @ the Movies" height="812" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5063/5802705013_facfc15e61_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5802705021/" title="IMG_5145 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5145" height="778" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5232/5802705021_0c2be62112_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I wore this to the movies...we went and saw Bridesmaids-one funny laugh after another I tell ya! Holy cow, I almost lost my coke zero thru my nose when I took a huge gulp and then they flashed a painting of Wynonna Judd on the screen; did anyone else seem to think this scene was as funny as I did? <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5802705025/" title="IMG_5155 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5155" height="788" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2507/5802705025_9f1fc68773_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
This shirt is a cheapie from Forever 21, although at what age do I need to STOP shopping there? It's still ok right? I am 31, but I act 21...soooooooooooooo; you figure it out for me ok? I need to know when I am too old for that store. Or is it moreso when my style outages the store? Because my true age is just a #; my style age is something different.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I do like this shirt because I think its a pretty lil' print. Sweet and not my usual go-to style. This is usually how I do it when I'm shopping at F21. I steer clear of their cheap jersey items, the things that look like a 14yr old would wear it, and I go for the silky, sheer, and lightweight drapey pieces--they always look a little more expensive and of higher quality, right? That's how I figure I can get away with shopping there at my age.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5802705009/" title="IMG_5134 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5134" height="717" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5114/5802705009_4e8b765059_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
I also am really into "ititials" these days. Not so much that I'm going to run out and do a "Sex and the City" nameplate necklace, heck no! I despise that show and the girls in it...its sooooooooooo not NYC, so not realistic; and I'm very anti-Sarah Jessica Parker-we won't even go there.<br />
But I do like initials...and I found this cute little typewriter key at Urban Outfitters. It was on sale, how could I pass it up? I've had it for a few months, but I don't think I ever take a pic of it. Just thought I'd show you NOW what I'm into.<br />

Anyway, even though its summertime i'll try to blog steadily, a few times a week. I won't give up these duties for sunshine just yet--but believe me, I'm ready to soak up the sunshine whenever possible as well! So we'll see how I balance it all. <br />
<em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(clearly I didn't make it out to photograph this in the sunshine, ha...nothing like some nighttime shots of an overall daytime outfit.)</span></em><br />

And just in time for the hot hot heat! Lets just say I've installed some built in ventilation, to keep cool thru the dog days of summer<br />
<br />
You might recall the <a href="http://www.garrottdesigns.com/store.html">Garrott Tee</a> started out slouchy with the size I chose. And my first DIY with it was to cut the neck making it more of a "Flashdance" off-the-shoulder look:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5569570235/" title="Untitled-2 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="Untitled-2" height="415" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5016/5569570235_e010c73521_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
After the first DIY, I then took to the sleeves and chopped those off for another look:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5688601677/" title="IMG_4629 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_4629" height="671" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5222/5688601677_c7450b2cd8_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
This time, I just went to town with my scissors! Cuts, slashes, ties, more fitted in the front-completely ripped to shreds in the back:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5788673935/" title="IMG_5120 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5120" height="684" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2404/5788673935_bd8113f287_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Oh, and I chopped about 2" off the length at the bottom of the tee.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5789228298/" title="IMG_5113 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5113" height="656" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5222/5789228298_b1fe6697c0_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So, want to know just how I did this? Probably not...but I'm going to tell you anyhow so you can get yoursellf all air-conditioned this summer too.<br />
<br />
1. You'll need just 3 supplies: scissors <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(nice shears used to cut fabric, do not use paper scissors!),</span></em> a marker, and a ruler.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5788678443/" title="IMG_5089 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5089" height="384" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3431/5788678443_34c2dffa54_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
2. Place ruler vertically from neckline down to hem. I chose to make slits 1" apart from one another, therefore I marked 1" hash marks all the way down. <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(I started 2" down from neckline as you can see)</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5788678951/" title="IMG_5092 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5092" height="864" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2027/5788678951_915c067fd1_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
3. After marking my spacing all the way down to sweep, I then drew horizontal lines across the back of the tshirt.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5789232220/" title="IMG_5099 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5099" height="384" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2598/5789232220_8e8f7f4f47_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
4. Get ready to cut! I found it easiest to pull up the shirt and create a little fold where hash marks were, this makes inserting the scissors easy. I then proceeded to cut slits all the way across horizontal lines on the left half of the shirt. I then went back and cut the other half on right side of shirt.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5788678337/" title="IMG_5101 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5101" height="864" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3472/5788678337_3e74e2fe8a_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
5. I tried the shirt on and thought it was too long, so I cut off the bottom 2-1/2" of the tshirt's length; this is a personal preference all your own.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5788678071/" title="IMG_5104 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5788678071/" title="IMG_5104 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5104" height="384" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5264/5788678071_c09f923345_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
6. Finally, I cut the top 2", right below neck, in half--I created a tiny little tie with these two sides, thus creating a more fitted looking front view than the tshirt originally had. <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;"> (Look back near beginning of this post </span></em><em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">and you'll see the little tie at center back neck that I'm talking about).</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5789228096/" title="IMG_5110 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5110" height="824" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3411/5789228096_3970da2540_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
So there you have it...completely DIY'd and ready to go thru the hot summer days. At this point, the shredded shirt really isn't appropriate for much more than casual attire; um FLIP-FLOPS! <em><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">(yeah get a good look now kids, me in flats...let alone flip flops??? Rare rare sight! This happens about as often as 3 eclipses in one month--which is also happening this June, I know because I read my horoscope! LIBRA, lets here it for the creative artsy fartsy venus ruled sign!!!)</span></em><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickiesixx/5789227810/" title="IMG_5121 by Nickie_Sixx, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_5121" height="822" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3600/5789227810_d9d34979ac_o.jpg" width="576" /></a><br />
Just how are you going to cut up some tshirts for summertime? You know you wanna!<br />
