Dusty Rose Vintage: The Pink Ladies

So here we are...donning some serious pink action for Dusty Rose Vintage!  And action in the form of rollerskates on Idee_geniale!  (I so would've busted my butt had I tried putting on rollerskates, especially on the cobblestone sidewalk--funny thing is, those are my skates!  But Mel's gotten more wear out of them than I have in the 7yrs I've owned them.)




So I've been thinking about this dress a while now...and then tonight when I finally had a moment to sit down (since what? Wednesday) to look at my blog I decided to check out this dress in
Dusty Rose's Etsy shop.
What?  I can't even find it in there...I would imagine that means its been SOLD!  Whoever you are, the happy little shopper that you may be...you've scored yourself a gem!  This dress is lovely, beautiful, and the pink can make any girl feel wonderful!




Who wouldn't love a bow detail?  Especially such a striking one, in the back...the perfect little touch, no?


So while the shown dress may be gone...there's plenty more where this came from. (for instance, Showgirl Godzilla's dress, and Idee_geniale's attire are still available--cuteness alert! Go already-check out DRV's shop!!!) Oh Dusty Rose...you really know how to make a gal drool, I really do love everything you always make me put on.  Its a shame that only after the fact do I realize which pieces I wore that I should probably purchase since I love them so much.  Items like this are too good to last long, and clearly I was too slow about realizing how much I really really liked this one.  I'll keep my eyes peeled for something similar in that shop of yours!

Sorry to tell you...but I'm going to be away from blogging for a long long time (a few weeks--that's a LONG time in the blogworld!).  I will of course try to post here and there, it will be very sporadic, nothing regular like I'm used to.  I promise, I'll try to be back to my regular thing by mid-June...but until then...don't forget about me :) please!  It's true; I will be back...just not sure exactly when.

Dusty Rose Vintage: Pretty in Pink

This time around, we dressed up like some PINK LADIES for Dusty Rose Vintage.

We were decked out in lovely pale pink confections from different eras.

As you may have seen by now on other blogs such as Dusty Rose Vintage, Idee_geniale, etc.--these dresses are very reminiscent of the movie Pretty in Pink.

(Although, this is a fave movie of mine, I do have to admit I giggle everytime I see the scene of Andie attempting to draw up her prom dress--in this particular scene, they don't even show her face. So one would think that they could hire a stand-in for her-somebody that actually had illustration skills. But no, pretty certain they used Molly Ringwald's lackluster drawing abilities because that is by far the worst fashion sketch I've ever seen!)

And how funny is it that a little flamingo friend found his way into Mel's hair? He's so very necessary for such a photoshoot of course.

I had the pleasure of wearing a lovely pastel pink 1960's dress.

It has these tiny clear stone settings on the buttons adding just the right does of glitz to an otherwise beautifully simplistic silhouette.

(Now I admit, I do this dress no justice because it is not fit to me. If one had the womanly hips so required to fill out the bottom skirt portion, I imagine this dress would be a dream fit. It's so perfectly lady-like; it would show your assets while still being classy.)

I was particularly in awe of the dress Showgirl Godzilla wore.

Such a demure, ballerina-esque dress,

Any young girl would look so beautiful and innocent wearing this.

Idee_geniale wore a 1980's dress.

The crinkled gauzy fabric added an interesting texture while the chiffon bow detail added a nice dose of feminine balance.

The dress lends itself to a number of accessorizing techniques--whether its a simple diamond bracelet, a lovely necklace, or a plastic flamingo in the hair (as shown above)

Daily Wear: the Girly-Girl

Today was a bit of a girly-girl day in terms of dress.

It's the silk, the lace, the chiffon, the pearls, the pale blush tone of the skirt, my cupcake pink lipstick,

EVERYTHING!

It's all way girlier than I've been in a long time.

It's ok, sometimes its good to remind myself that next to black, Pink IS my fave color

Yep, believe it--the more "Barbie-pink" the better too!

(I should do a post on Barbie, hmmm--lots of good stories tied up there w/me and my Barbies)

I don't even know where to begin,

other than I think I'd like to start dressing like this more often than not.

I've been wanting to try out nude tones for a while

and this pale of palest pink skirt was calling for my credit card--so I bought it.

It's such a light pink blush color, it almost just looks off-white

(such as in my poor excuses for photos)

I think next I'll try to remix it with some pale neutral colors for a springier approach-that'll have to wait until after this Sunday's laundry day though.
