Saturday's Birthday Party Style:
9/5/09
*Beige Floral Print Dress-Forever 21
*Blue denim button-up shirt-H&M
*Brown suede boots-Carlos Santana
*Beige leather bag-Makowsky
Saturday was Bob's birthday party (Bob, pictured below). I took some impromptu pics of friends to document their personal style choices. They did not know beforehand that this would take place, and I like it better that way-- it captures their true, relaxed, personal twist on everyday attire. No pre-party prepping or practiced poses...I like it when it's real.
I had all intention to jot down details on each of their outfits; sadly I lost interest after BF toldme one of the girls rolled their eyes and whispered into the other's ear at mention of my blog.
(no need to name names, you know who you are. "Thanks").
So here you go, the girls and boy of Williamsburg-and their style:
*Must point out Bob's Vintage bowling shirt--it's enviable, and I'd love to have it for my bowling excursions I frequently partake in.
It must've belonged to a woman named "Babs" as the name is embroidered on it. Another tell-tale sign of it being a ladies' blouse, there's bust darts--which Bob referred to as "boob pockets".
I would love to start documenting friends and random people more often. I think it's important to showcase others' style--it's a great way to get inspired, see what peers are wearing and how they're putting it together, and overall just to get some new ideas on clothing. Everyone can bring their own personality to an outfit and if you're anything like me, you find that personal twist so very exciting.

Great idea. I should try to start this as well but guess I need to build up the courage to take my own pics first...I guess. :) You look great!

hhahah the vest is but not the little studs, i put that on there, it was like my little diy project
by the way your outfit is so much fun!!
Sorry about the cattiness. I like your blog, love reading it, adore your personal style. Don't let them influence you, the same thing happened to me 4 years ago when I first arrived here. I ignored it, though it did hurt my feelings at the time. So don't change a thing, Nickie!
You got some stylish friends! And your blog rocks so that girl who rolled her eyes can go cry in a corner... wow, I'm so vicious lol!
oh boy how I wish i wouldn've been there for a littel throwdown blog showdown.Umm, not sure what that is exactly but those girls wouldn't have enjoyed it!
ps: did you steal Bob's shirt for Sunday?
Yay! I love style shots! I am sorry that you had a bad experience....that happened to me once, when I randomly approached a girl on the street to take her picture! Oh well! You blog is fabulous!
That is incredible that you have your grandmother's wedding dress! I am sure that it is incredible!
Hope you are having a great week! :)
Thanks Jana-I might've been one of those girls that didn't make your 1st year in NYC all that pleasant....if so I apologize a thousand times over. I appreciate your support and know that you know these "friends" firsthand so I'm sure you can guess who it was! No worries what others think, it doesn't really phase me.
