What I Want NOW: Shoes from Ms. Simpson

Dear Ms. Jessica Simpson,
If ever there was a time I needed you to hear my call...the time is NOW.
I've dropped your name rather frequently on this here blog, praised the comfort and durability of your product, and raved about the soaring heights your shoes put me at.
And quite frankly , my dear, I've come across two pairs that I simply want NOW.

This is no joke, I was up for about 4 hours last night frantically seeking them out on the internet, but just like Macy's, and Macy's.com, no websites have a size 8 available!!!!
HELP.

Sincerely,
ME

First up, the Vadio.
It comes in other colorways, but this particular pairing is perfect for my life.  Black and Brown is one of my favorite color-combos...its such a NO-NO to some people, that I just love to send their little close-minded worlds into a tizzy.
(its the same with navy/black for me too...love it!)
I realize this photo makes the wood part of the shoe look more like a pumice stone worthy of scrubbing my severely calloused feet, but rest assured its really a delightfully refreshing spring-y cedar instead.  It's very "fresh" if I dare to use such a corny word.

Secondly, I'd really like to own the Black version of the Colie Pump.
I've been in dire need of some basic black heels since my last ones have seen two years of wear and tear, its time I replace them.  Now I did just say "basic" and these Colie pumps are far from basic.  Yet, in my eyes, these are kinda basic for my taste...and when comparing to the majority of all my other J.Simpson shoes, these aren't all that crazy.
(yes its true, I can't get enough of her shoes...and its ok...i love them)

 So here's the conundrum,
I cannot find the Vadio anywhere in a size 8.
And I've found the Colie in a size 8 on a few sights, but I want them on sale since I could've had them for wayyyyy cheap with discounts and coupons at Macy's last night if only I wore a size 5.5.
So its hard for me to justify buying them for far more than Macy's was selling them at.
With that being said, even if paying full price for the Colie, the wait for shipping is until June 4th!!!!
I'd probably die from anticipation by the time they arrived.

but yeah, I'm in dire need of some retail therapy this weekend, and these shoes have got my name written all over them. (or moreso, Jessica's name all over them, just my toes lusting to be in there.)
And really, c'mon, we all know I'm on a question to be amazonian-like tall, therefore I really really really need these shoes.  They'll help me achieve my delusional dreams all the more easy.

So grrrrr.....I want what I simply cannot seem to have.
I won't stop till I fall asleep though...so I'm back at it, ready to pound the internet pavement, in search of these ladies in a size 8.

But hey, Jessica, if you hear me callin' please help a girl out.
thanks.

What I Want NOW: Three's Company!

Spring is almost here, and I need to refresh the wardrobe with a few items....3 key things to be exact.

I've had my eyes on the perfect pair of
basic, platform heels, but its a MUST that they're NUDE!
I've leaning more toward a patent leather pair, as there's so many out there in all price ranges these days.
I think the price range thing comes about because the Nude shoe trend has been around for over a year now...its time the lower price points catch on; Lucky Me!

I haven't quite chosen a pair yet, nor do I have a specific idea in mind, I just know I want NUDE, and when I see Nude, a heel, and a good $$$...I'm gonna buy, that's all I know.
I think Nude Heels are going to be great leg lengtheners to my chicken limbs come this spring; not to mention blushy nude tones just add a touch of girliness to almost any outfit;
god knows I can use all the "girly" I can manage, just to counteract this personality of mine.
**********************************************
Another item I really need want is a new
BLACK BOMBER JACKET
Right now, I don't even know where to go to get this, its just something I know I'll come across at H&M, F21, Urban, wherever...its not hard to find, its just finding one in my price range that fits like my current beloved (yet falling apart and raggedy)one from H&M.
Have you kids seen any like this one shown, but under $100?
If so, do tell...
***********************************************
Next up, I simply MUST fortify the wardrobe with some little
neon dayglow
add-ons here and there.
In this category, I don't have anything in mind...just something, just anything!
I'm not looking to overpower my outfit with neon;
not looking to blind you when you read my blog,
nor do I want to overstimulate anyone with electric hues everywhere...
noooooo, just a hint here and there.

I'm growing particularly fond of the Spring '11 Dior make-up.
I like the idea of a shocking color swiped across the lid.
Or maybe a nude eye w/lots of black mascara and a streak of bold lipstick?
If I wore lipstick that is...I will try, yes I will try.
Makeup in neon shades is probably the way for me to go with this one...
I'll let you know what I find and what I go about doing in order to satisfy my 1989 craving for neon.

I guess lucky for me, at least I currently own this $2.00 pair of street vendor sunnies.
I knew like 3yrs ago these babies would come in handy one day...I'm just that ahead of my time...riiiiight!
And let's not get in a tizzy over this tshirt...while amazing I know, it is not mine...but one day soon Max Headroom on my upper torso could be a possibility, or it could be possible for you.
This here is just a sneak peak at a vintage tshirt shoot I did with Dusty Rose Vintage--I assure you, you'll definitely want to come back for those posts!
But yeah, let's just disregard what I"m wearing here...I'm focusing in on the shades at this very moment.

Anyway, let me know what you've found out there on your jaunts.
If you know some affordable, yet quality nude heels you think I should look into-speak up.
If you see that perfect leather (or faux) bomber--I need it!
And dayglow is everywhere for spring...I think I'm ok to find that on my own, but I'm all ears if you wanna tell me what you got hiding in your closets, in your drawers, or in your makeup bin!

Tootles!
Have a great weekend...i'm off to snap pictures, and er, um...stop in Topshop, Uniqlo, and H&M.
Certainly I'll come across something along the lines of this post, no?

What I Want NOW: Animal Prints

...particularly in the form of a Handbag...

Preferably a Mulberry one from their Fall 2010 collection.
This collection is one of my favorites for the season-animal prints done so right they've got me drooling!
(Now I'm not going to ignore the fact that where I work might have some persuasion when it comes to my tendancy to like animal prints-particularly leopard...I've not known a season yet where we didn't incorporate at least 3-4 animal prints of sorts into our lines.  So maybe I'm bias...but when Animal is HUGE for a particular season you best believe I'm all for the trend, and it makes me giddy to think I can wear it and be on key, not just wearing it like I think I'm punk rock or something).

Although Mulberry is extremely out of my price range...so I've settled on treating myself to a real nice bag, just at a slightly lower price point.  (my current everyday lug my life around bag has had it!  But its been sturdy, good, and well worth the money I threw down on it...so I'm telling myself to do the same again on a nice bag is A-OK as I'll use it for a few years.)

Enter my love for this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag!
(Ok honestly, this one might not even be at my price point, but this is more along the lines of what I consider a "splurge" but a well deserved treat that'll last for a while--I work hard so I easily justify things like this to myself.  I try to give myself little prizes for sticking to my midwestern go-get 'em don't stop at 6pm cause the job ain't done work ethics...Thanks mom and dad for raising me right.  So yeah, I deserve a real nice item once in a while.  And that's also the awesome part about having your own job and not living off your parents-you don't have to check in with anybody to see if its ok to put all that $$$ on your card.
Try it sometime.)

I plan on swinging past Loehman's today after my hair appointment.  They have a rather large handbag dept. and sometimes, you never know, they have real designer stuff in there for a pretty decent price.  Not saying I expect this bag to be there, but I'm hoping something similar or some animal print is in there somewhere.  We shall see if I come back empty handed, or with some goodies in my arms.
If not Loehman's, well its high time I make my way out to the Jersey Gardens outlet mall anyhow, I know the Off 5th (the Saks outlet) usually has some pretty awesome bags too.  And I haven't been to that mall in a while (obviously, its in Jersey).

And if all else fails, I did come across this OK, so-so, use it and toss-it out after the season is up, Nine West bag.  It's on sale for $39.99 too, so really this wouldn't break the bank at all.
I'm just worried that the black straps, and "leather" detail isn't real...and it will probably look super cheap.  I do have issues in my older age with fake leather on purses. (I think this comes at a certain point in your life when you realize you need to start looking a little more professional and put together, because at 30, sometimes you just can't pass for 22...and sometimes you gotta actually dress like you're 30, not 22.)
I think man-made, synthetic leather is usually pretty horrid...unless its that really really good looking fake leather, but 99% of the time its not.

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for this one at a store too so I can check out that leather factor myself firsthand.  I'd hate to order it online then be sorely dissappointed upon receiving.

But really...when it comes down to it, if I'm thinking I can justify a nice handbag of real caliber...shouldn't I be smart and stick to something more classic?  Skip the animal print, leave that to the lower end brands since this season its just a trend (although, face it, animal prints are in almost as soon as they're out...they never really go away).

I'm thinking if I could find something like this Mulberry oversized Alexa bag that would be good for my bag fix.  And then I could do Animal in other forms of accessories.
Am I right on this?  Bag-wise I should inveest in classic, not trendy???
(PS-Back to my love of Fall '10 Mulberry...did you know they're collaborating with Target on a handbag line, and supposedly they're going to have spin-offs of their classic silhouettes, like the Alexa Bag!  Yes Please!  Um wait, no....I'm always sooooooooooo outraged with dissappointment when I go to Target and see these collaborations firsthand.  Why do I always forget just how infuriating I find the cheapness of their goods when they work with these top designers?  Of course, I'll forget this again when I jaunt over to check out the Mulberry bags...but remember, 99% of the time fake leather looks horrid in my books...so why am I getting my hopes up?  Do I really think Target is going to have an awesome collab with Mulberry?  No...I'm just one for wishful thinking though).

So if I go the classic route with a bag, then I'm thinking (scratch that--I'm knowing)that I could really use an animal fix in the form of a bootie.  Who couldn't?
I'm so silly, I had a pair of pony skin leopard print booties back in college--but I threw them out after my first year in NYC.  I think I found them ridiculous or something at that point, or maybe too much of a reminder of me at 21.  I can't remember my rationale for tossing them, but what I wouldn't give to have those bad boys back RIGHT NOW!

Since I no longer have those college animal print booties, I think I'll go on a safari in search of knock-off versions of this:

(Again, way way wayyyyyyyyy to out of my price range with these right here).

Ah, love....love how animal can take a simple outfit and elevate it to about 10x cooler, no 100x cooler!
It really is the perfect accent to an otherwise laid back ensemble.  I could really use this "cool" factor in my life considering my clothes usually consist of black, black, more black, then some white...and mix those two together and you get Gray.  Yeah black, white, and gray.  So who's gonna tell me that some fancy leopard can't take that Black outfit to an out-of-this-world level of fun?

Case in Point:
This girl!

Ok, maybe I should just slow it down...I'm looking and talking about some big ticket items here.  Let me just hold myself back for a moment and give myself a little talking to.  I need to remind myself to keep my eyes peeled for similar items to those above, not necessarily THOSE ITEMS.
(I need to think more along the lines of that Nine West bag)

The best way for me to get my animal fix, and get it fast, would be for me to start out with something like a scarf.  Something I could probably find at F21.
Ohhhhhhhh, but at cool as this Olsen looks here, and I know I could do this look too, I just soooooooo want to jump on board and get a handbag already!!!!
Restraint, restraint, restraint...unless I come across it at Loehmans today :)

Disclaimer: None of these pictures are mine!  Obviously...
Thanks for letting me use them, now get over it.

What I Want NOW: Breton Stripes

We've all seen the nautical, sailor-style, stripes here-there-everywhere this spring.
But I cannot resist it myself and for the past few weeks I've had my eyes open, just in case I come across an oh so classic Breton Stripe top.

-I have to admit, I have not been actively seeking for the perfect top, just moreso a "mental note" of sorts to myself when I've been out shopping.
-So if you've got any suggestions, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Topshop, H&M, any of those price ranges work for me--please suggest away!

Because, as it is now, I still do not have such an iconic sailor striped blouse.
And its high time I jump on this trend.

"Trend" but in a classic silhouette--that would be great.
Think Jean Seberg, classic!

Or these other classy ladies we all know and love.

With this style, I'd prefer a classic look over a trendy silhouette.
Moreso because with a classic, we all know that means you can wear it for many many years to come.  And with stripes, it immediately makes me think more "preppy"--and I equate preppy with classic.

Of course I'm no prepster, so I might have to try a few of the following:

-Add my BF jacket, skinny jeans, high booties, and yep-I'll call it a day.

-And I think I would pair it with some shorts since its almost summa-time!
Yep, this seems about right...just minus the guitar because I can't play an instrument worth crap.

-And if I could ever get my act together, maybe I could dress it up for a night out??
This would be like if BF and I went on a date...besides down the street to the neighborhood cinema.

But until I randomly come across that classic staple, I might have to "accidentally on purpose"
make a paypal purchase and go with this little tote:
So cute, right?  I can already see myself carrying this all over on a Saturday of errands, or shopping, or just hanging out.  I love the bow.
Well ok, actually you can purchase this one at Peaceloveenpolkadots, because I'm thinking I might email them about making me a larger size.  A little custom bag-making action?? Sounds great.

Ok...so let me know if you come across any cute classic breton stripes.  Lead me in their direction, but think under $50 because I'm not sure how long this "let's be classic" streak is gonna last.
But for now, I WANT SOME STRIPES in my life!
Help me out friends.

______________________________
Oh and on a side note...I'm stoked!  My BFF from Ohio is coming to NYC tomorrow thru Sunday!  Yes, I was fortunate enough to see her just last month, which is unheard of!  But, you can never have too much BFF time!  It's gonna be awesome and lots of fun this weekend.  Maybe my next post will come in a few days since I'm gonna be out and about and not around my computer all that much.
Hang tight and bare with me.
