The Garrott Tee: Look #16-DIY Ventilation

I've got some more DIY up my sleeves this time around with Garrott Designs' "Without my Muse" tshirt!!!
And just in time for the hot hot heat!  Lets just say I've installed some built in ventilation, to keep cool thru the dog days of summer

You might recall the Garrott Tee started out slouchy with the size I chose.  And my first DIY with it was to cut the neck making it more of a "Flashdance" off-the-shoulder look:

After the first DIY, I then took to the sleeves and chopped those off for another look:

This time, I just went to town with my scissors!  Cuts, slashes, ties, more fitted in the front-completely ripped to shreds in the back:

Oh, and I chopped about 2" off the length at the bottom of the tee.

So, want to know just how I did this?  Probably not...but I'm going to tell you anyhow so you can get yoursellf all air-conditioned this summer too.

1. You'll need just 3 supplies: scissors (nice shears used to cut fabric, do not use paper scissors!), a marker, and a ruler.

2. Place ruler vertically from neckline down to hem.  I chose to make slits 1" apart from one another, therefore I marked 1" hash marks all the way down. (I started 2" down from neckline as you can see)

3. After marking my spacing all the way down to sweep, I then drew horizontal lines across the back of the tshirt.

4. Get ready to cut!  I found it easiest to pull up the shirt and create a little fold where hash marks were, this makes inserting the scissors easy.  I then proceeded to cut slits all the way across horizontal lines on the left half of the shirt.  I then went back and cut the other half on right side of shirt.

5. I tried the shirt on and thought it was too long, so I cut off the bottom 2-1/2" of the tshirt's length; this is a personal preference all your own.

6. Finally, I cut the top 2", right below neck, in half--I created a tiny little tie with these two sides, thus creating a more fitted looking front view than the tshirt originally had.  (Look back near beginning of this post and you'll see the little tie at center back neck that I'm talking about).

So there you have it...completely DIY'd and ready to go thru the hot summer days.  At this point, the shredded shirt really isn't appropriate for much more than casual attire; um FLIP-FLOPS!  (yeah get a good look now kids, me in flats...let alone flip flops???  Rare rare sight!  This happens about as often as 3 eclipses in one month--which is also happening this June, I know because I read my horoscope! LIBRA, lets here it for the creative artsy fartsy venus ruled sign!!!)

Just how are you going to cut up some tshirts for summertime?  You know you wanna!

The Garrott Tee: Look #11-Such a Chore

No, I'm not elluding that the Garrott Tee styling project has become a chore; I'm stating that my outfit this time around looks like I'm ready to do chores.
Perfect for spring cleaning or running errands around my neighborhood; pair the "Without My Muse" tee with spring's new jean silhouette (70s style flares) and you're ready to go; ready to get down and dirty while still looking cute!
IMG_4371
Sure, its yet again just a simple jeans and tshirt combo, but a couple colorful-nifty accessories and you've punched it up to the next level.
NO reason you have to look grimey and grubby to pot some plants, to wash the windows, to run to the grocery--I sure as heck won't let myself look like that.  Treat chores like you'd treat anything else, dress for it--just not in your designer clothes ok?
But why not brighten your day by pairing some bright scarf on your head, a colored jacket to keep the chill out if doing outdoor gardening, and maybe a belt to just add some pizazz?
Yeah that's right, accessories ladies...they can make a tshirt outfit something much cooler, and they can make chores and errands all the better.

So if you're feeling you need another tshirt to add to your wardrobe, something to spice up your household duties, then head on over to Garrott Designs and pick up a "Without My Muse" tee for only $20!

Daily Wear: Easy Like Sunday Morning

IMG_8209
I kinda missed out on a Weekend Rewind this past weekend.
With my buddy being out of town, I just took it way too casual to even blog about.
(meaning, I had no real places to go, nothing to dress up for, and no crazy good-times to report)

I just hung out with BF all weekend--lucky him, I know (PSYCHE!)
BF doesn't like when I take too much time to get ready just to walk down the street, or go to the Outlet Mall as was the case this weekend. So, I tend to opt for jeans and a t-shirt when hanging with the BF. That way, I'm comfy, and he's happy cause I get ready in a jiffy.
But it makes for rather lackluster blogging that's for sure.

Sunday was no different, it was Easter-but what were we doing? NOTHING
(and why am I only now getting around to talking about Easter Sunday?)
As the weather was splendid, I managed to convince BF to stop playing video games long enough to take me to my favorite British fish and chips restaurant (Chip Shop). We strolled hand in hand down the street and around the corner--
and I proceeded to shove my face full of the most gigantic piece of fried cod I've ever seen!
(Look @ it HERE!!!)

What a classy Easter we had...again big fat PSYCHE!
Sunday Casual
So Easter Sunday was just like any other Sunday...
and I took it easy, opted for the casual, and enjoyed the fact that I was not dressed frivolously.

(Ok, so the scarf was probably unnecessary and a bit "frivolous", but who am I to hold back on the accessories? )

How exactly did you spend your Easter?
Or was it just another Sunday because you don't celebrate?
Was anyone as lame as I was about the holiday?

A Yea Kinda Day

It started at 7:00am as an ordinary day, in my ordinary get-up.  In fact, I was doing so well lately with the styling, that I was a bit of an upset to myself when I resorted back to my trusty standby.
That's right, the skinny jean/tshirt combo I've come to rely on in a pinch.  Yet, I tried to look at it this way:

If it's not broken, why fix it?

After all, the outfit works, it keeps me looking easy and casual without any fuss.  Although, don't be fooled, it somehow still takes me 75min. to get ready in the morning....yeah I know, WTF?

*Dark denim skinny jeans, Uniqlo
*Brown leather cowboy booties, Steve Madden
*Brown wooden necklace, Forever 21

After a late night at work, things started going from just ordinary to kinda cool.
For one, the BF was not home when I arrived.  And I managed to get a ton of stuff done
*Heated the oven
*washed my face and put on a mint julep mask
*put 3 batches of cookies in the oven
*took some poor quality photos (as usual)
*managed not to burn cookies
*opened my mail-to which a little package was awaiting me

The package was from Lucky magazine.  And for the life of me I could not remember why or what I might be receiving from them.  On occasion I enter their giveaways, but who really wins those?  I haven't renewed a subscription in a few months, so I knew it wasn't that crappy bag they try to give you with a subscription.....so what, what could it be?
Oh yes, when I opened it up, I saw a little card from Lucky-Style-Spotter and it all came back to me.  I had entered a Ray Ban contest.  I have since forgotten the details, but who cares.
I freakin one myself a pair of

RAY BAN WAYFARERS!
